Co-Founder & CFO
Before joining PetroChain, Carlo served for four years as Managing Director for Vaughn Capital,
a Denver-based private investment office and merchant bank. At Vaughn, Carlo was
responsible for evaluating investment opportunities third party co-investment partners, which
included investment sourcing, analysis and modeling, and presentations for potential
transactions. He likewise focused on legal and capital structures, contracts and agreements, as
well as serving as CFO for several portfolio companies. Additionally, Carlo performed interim
CFO duties for early stage energy focused entities, identifying transaction structure and return
economics strategies to maximize investor value.
For the four years prior to Vaughn Capital, Carlo served as Senior Vice President of
Energy Investment Banking at Morgan Keegan & Company (which became Wunderlich
Securities), an energy-focused investment bank and M&A firm. There Carlo was responsible for
analysis of energy transactions, institution client relationship management, execution of energy
transactions across the board from renewables to E&P to coal, managing the execution of over
$2B in transactions.
Carlo operated as an advanced mergers and acquisitions analyst for Marathon Oil
Company, coordinating their acquisition of Western Oil Sands.
He began his career in public accounting, first at Grant Thornton and then
PricewaterhouseCoopers, where performed due diligence related buy and sell-side private
equity and corporate client transactions focusing on natural resources, supply chain and
software, including field audits and SEC reporting.
